How Online Design and Technology Tutoring Works
Every DTBase session runs online over video call, so you can book a tutor from anywhere in the UK
with no travel time and no minimum commitment. Lessons are delivered on a shared interactive
whiteboard where your tutor can sketch, annotate exam questions and mark your answers live,
just as they would sitting next to you.
What a typical hour looks like
- A short check-in on what you found difficult since the last session
- A worked topic or past-paper section, taught against your board's mark scheme
- Targeted practice with immediate feedback on where marks are being dropped
- Follow-up notes and practice questions sent after the session
What you'll need
A laptop or tablet, a stable internet connection, and a way to photograph or scan handwritten
work so your tutor can mark it. Everything else, including resources, past papers and mark
schemes, is provided.
Exam Boards and Levels We Cover
Our tutors work across all major UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel (Pearson), OCR and
WJEC/Eduqas, at both GCSE and A-Level. Every session is built around your specific specification and paper
structure, so you are never spending time on content your board does not assess.
Want to see the material before you book? Our free
revision notes,
past papers and
topic questions
are all organised by exam board and level, and they are the same resources your tutor will
work through with you.
NEA and Coursework Support
The Non-Exam Assessment is worth 50% of the marks at both GCSE and A-Level, and it is where
students most often lose marks they could have kept, usually through folder structure and
evidencing rather than the design work itself.
Tutors can help you choose and scope a viable project, structure your folder against the
assessment criteria, and review sections before you submit them. We guide and give feedback on
your own work; we do not produce any part of the NEA for you. You can browse
real coursework examples to see the standard
you are aiming for.
Safeguarding and DBS-Checked Tutors
Every DTBase tutor holds an enhanced DBS check. One of our tutors is also qualified in SEN
teaching and has experience supporting neurodivergent students.
For students under 18, booking enquiries can be sent from a parent or guardian's email address,
and we will correspond with the parent throughout. If you would like to know more about who we
are before booking, you can read about DTBase or email us at
